More than a play session.

Petal & Play brings together play, science, nature and early learning through thoughtfully designed, hands-on experiences.Children might investigate a tiny creature, build a small world, measure and pour, create with natural materials, listen to a story or simply stop to wonder at something they’ve discovered.There’s no checklist to complete and no expectation to do it all. Just thoughtfully prepared invitations, with room for children to follow their own ideas.

For walking-age children through to around five.Outdoor sessions filled with open-ended play, sensory exploration, stories, creativity and early science. ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

Cassie, a registered teacher, scientist and mum.With a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology, a Master of Teaching and experience across early childhood, primary education, environmental work and science outreach, I’ve always loved finding ways to turn children's natural curiosity into meaningful learning.Petal & Play grew from that idea.That learning doesn’t have to look like sitting at a desk.That science can start with a puddle, a feather or a tiny insect.That play is important in its own right, while also being a powerful way for children to make sense of the world around them.
Childhood has plenty of room for muddy hands, big questions, tiny discoveries and a little bit of magic.

Petal & Play acknowledges the Whadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we learn and play.Our sessions take place outdoors and we’re lucky enough to learn alongside the plants, animals, waterways and seasonal changes of the places around us.Our home base is Bibra Lake / Walliabup, within Beeliar Boodja.We’re continually learning how to care for these places, notice what is around us and leave them ready for the next little explorers.

Good to Know

Do I stay with my child?
Yes. Petal & Play sessions are parent/carer-accompanied experiences. You’re welcome to explore alongside your child or simply enjoy watching their curiosity unfold.What ages are sessions for?
Sessions are generally designed for toddlers and young children, while homeschool and primary sessions cater to older children.Does my child need to do every activity?
Absolutely not.
There are no activity checklists here. Children can move between invitations, revisit something they love or spend the entire session investigating one tiny thing.What happens if it rains?
Rain happens! Petal & Play is an all-weather outdoor program, so we'll embrace the elements wherever possible.Our invitations may look a little different depending on the weather, but the opportunity to explore, play and discover is always there.
For everyone's safety, sessions won't go ahead during severe weather warnings. You'll receive an update before your session if anything changes.Are siblings welcome?
Yes. Siblings are welcome at sessions, and many experiences are designed so children of different ages can find something to investigate.What should we bring?
Comfortable clothes, weather-appropriate layers and shoes that can cope with outdoor exploration are a good start. Snacks and water to keep your explorer fuelled (a light morning tea is usually provided).
A willingness to get a little curious helps too.Have another question?
